Kingston & Polytechnic Harrier Pippa Earley secured a golden double at th South of Ungland U15 Indoor Championships to start the year in style on Sunday.
The 14-year-old Notre Dame School student clocked 9.01 seconds to win the 60m hurdles before leaping 5.22 metres to win the lung jump at Lee Valley.
Earley claimed pentathlon silver at the same event 12 months ago.
Stragglers Running Club’s Paul Lowe might have finished fifth in the Surrey Men’s Cross Country League Division Two race in Wimbledon on Saturday, but he got little support from the rest of his clubmates.
Lowe, a regular at the Bushy Park parkrun, clocked 29 minutes seven seconds, on Wimbledon Common, but the next highest finisher for Stragglers was Martin Snodgrass, who came 21st as the team finished last.
The club’s women, led home by Sarah Kinsella [33:39] in 12th, finished fifth in their Division One meet at the same venue.
Kingston & Polytechnic Harriers’ men finished third in the Surrey Men’s Cross Country League Division Three match where James Robertson clocked 32 minutes 22 seconds to lead his team home in sixth.
