Big freeze wrecks local fixture list

Crystal Palace and AFC Wimbledon have joined the long list of sport matches to be postponed this weekend.

Both the Eagles' home fixture with Doncaster Rovers tomorrow and the Don's game with Bradford City have fallen foul of the freezing weather - with both called off due to frozen pitches.

London Welsh's Championship clash with Doncaster Knights at Old Deer Park was the last game to fall on Friday as final attempts to get it on bit the dust at 4.20pm.

Brentford had already announced this morning that tomorrow's League One clash with Oldham Athletic at Griffin Park is off for the same reason.

But Harlequins have confirmed Saturday's Premiership visit of London Irish will go ahead as planned having had the covers on at the Stoop for much of the last fortnight.

In the non-league football pyramid, Kingstonian's Ryman Premier League trip to Lowestoft Town is cancelled due to a frozen pitch, as is Carshalton Athletic's encounter with AFC Hornchurch, Tooting & Mitcham's match at Hastings United and Leatherhead's trip to Lewes.

In Ryman Division One South, Corinthian Casuals and Dulwich Hamlet have cancelled their home fixtures with Whitstable Town and Walton & Hersham.

Rosslyn Park's game with Macclesfield tomorrow has also been postponed.

Esher's pitch passed an inspection today for their game with London Scottish tomorrow but another inspection is planned for tomorrow morning, when there will also be inspections at Sutton United's game at Dartford, Hampton & Richmond's trip to Boreham Wood and the derby between Chipstead and Whyteleafe
