Kingstonian boss Tommy Williams has called for consistency after another disappointing weekend was followed by a good Monday night performance.

After a 2-1 Ryman Premier League defeat at Wingate & Finchley on Saturday, Ks put VCD Athletic to the sword at Kingsmeadow on Monday night, winning 3-0 thanks to a Pelayo Pico-Gomez double, and a inch-perfect Tyron Smith free-kick.

The win was significant for marking the return to action from suspension of Ks keeper Rob Tolfrey, as well as a debut for full-back Dylan Casey, who has signed for the season.

Williams could not hide his delight at the three points, but he wants the good vibes to be taken into this weekend’s bank holiday double header at East Thurrock United on Saturday, and Dulwich Hamlet on Monday.

He said: “I wanted a reaction to the Wingate disappointment, and I got one. We moved the ball really well with real purpose, scored some good goals and so I’m really pleased with the performance.

“Consistency is the word I used before the game. We need to start building momentum and you can only do that by being consistent, we’ve blown hot and cold so far this year.

“We are a new team, we are a work in progress and there has been a lot of change in personnel.

“But we’re getting there. Consistency is the key now and we need to take this performance into the bank holiday.”

He added: “Rob [Tolfrey] has been at the club a long time, he commands his box well and his distribution is very good. He showed that against VCD and I’m pleased he got a clean sheet.”
