After his loan spell with AFC Wimbledon, Adedeji Oshilaja has closed the door on a return to the CRRS and looks set to stay with parent club Cardiff City.

Oshilaja, 22, joined the Dons towards the latter part of last season and soon became a fans favourite.

The London-born defender finished his 23-game spell with the club by winning the AFCW young player of the year award.

However, Oshilaja has confirmed his decision to stay in Wales.

He said: “I'm determined to make an impact this season.

“I've played league football on loan for Newport County, Sheffield Wednesday and AFC Wimbledon, which was great and I'm now backing myself to make progress.

"The more I'll play the more confidence I'll have and that will help me.

"My aim was to give the gaffer [Russell Slade] something to think about. He is a manager who gives young players a chance,” he added.

Oshilaja, who joined Cardiff City as a 16-year-old, is ready to try and make an impression at Championship level.

"Gaining League experience at Wimbledon helped me immensely," said Oshilaja.

"Facing different strikers, big and small, with various playing styles made me learn quickly and I feel I’m ready to play at a higher level."
