The season is over, so what do fans think of the past nine months?

I spoke to a group outside the CRRS ahead of the Cheltenham game on Saturday.

Surprisingly, no one had beating the franchise as their season highlight, but, unsurprisingly, everyone backed Neal Ardley to take Dons on.

But what do you think?

Steve Votle, 47, Chester

Your verdict on the season: So, so. Comfortable mid-table. We flirted with the play-offs to a certain degree, but the disappointing thing is not killing off the teams at the bottom.

If we killed off the teams in the bottom four and got maximum points off them then we would be on the play-off fringe.

What's your season highlight? I think having a good FA Cup run is a big positive, and they are absolutely solid in mid-table without having the worries that we have had over the past few seasons.

Is Neal Ardley the right man for next season? Absolutely, he’s bringing through a lot of youth players and he’s been solid so far. He needs to find a striker who scores goals and ever since [Matt] Tubbs left we have been lacking that and that’s cost us a lot of points. It’s not much to be honest, just a couple of tweaks here and there, and a bit of luck.

Tony Sollars, 44, Godalming

Your verdict on the season: It’s not been the most exciting season, but after the past few years it’s kind of what we needed.

We needed to establish ourselves in the middle of League Two. I don’t think we are financially equipped for a promotion push and survival in League One yet.

So it’s just been a season of unexciting stabilisation. The middle of the table would be nice until the new Plough Lane could be sorted.

The problem was losing Matt Tubbs when we did. We probably could have pushed on for a play-off spot with Tubbs and since he left things have been a bit flat up front. There have been a few silly dropped points recently, but at least this season we are safe enough to not worry about relegation.

What's your season highlight? Luton 3-2 and Liverpool. I enjoyed the Luton game for the last minute winner. Liverpool game just for the publicity it gave us, it made people sort of realise that we are still Wimbledon.

Is Neal Ardley the right man for next season? Yeah I think he is. He’s proved a lot of things slowly.

The football is not always the most exciting and sometimes it comes across a little negative.

But if you replace him, you have got to watch out what you wish for.

Look at clubs like Aldershot, who replaced their managers and they are not exactly going in the right direction.

We've got a guy who understands Wimbledon and is passionate about Wimbledon and I don’t think there is any better choices out there at the moment.

Thomas Thomson, 10, Ebbw Vale

Your verdict on the season: I’ve enjoyed the whole season, it’s been really great to watch AFC Wimbledon play.

What's your season highlight? I liked all the games where Adebayo Akinfenwa has scored, I really enjoyed them.

Is Neal Ardley the right man for next season? Yeah I think he is really good at managing the club and I think he is the best manager we could have.

Edd Thomson (father of Thomas), 39, Ebbw Vale

Your verdict on the season: It’s been alright. I think it started with high expectations with the strike force.

Obviously we lost Tubbs and lost a bit of momentum and I think it’s tailed off towards the end.

But it’s a steady season and we got other things on our mind like Plough Lane so I think a steady season will do and maybe things will get a little bit better next season.

Surrey Comet:

Thomas and Edd Thomson

Tubbs scored some great goals and Akinfenwa has been a joy to watch, he does the business. It’s been a steady season.

What's your season highlight? The Liverpool game was excellent for us to give them a proper game here.

We were underdogs and we went out fighting and gave them a good game - so that’s probably been my highlight of the season.

Is Neal Ardley the right man for next season? I think so. I think we need someone at the helm to steady the ship at the moment and until we get Plough Lane in place we just need to steady along.

We shouldn’t worry about jumping up the leagues too quickly, just do it steady and get it done.

Then when we get a firm foot in, get some money and then we can push on from there.

Paul Kennett, 56, Epsom

Your verdict on the season: Well I’m pleased that we are not playing our last game not knowing whether we are staying up or not.

But it’s been quite a dull, boring end of the season. We have tailed off miserably and I think there are going to be a lot of changes before next season.

Surrey Comet:

Paul Kennett

There was a lack of ambition shown in the last few games, and I think some of the guys are already looking to the summer holidays.

There have been a lot of chances in games recently, but no one in form to put them away.

What's your season highlight? I’ve got to say the Liverpool FA Cup game.

That was a great and thrilling night to see Steven Gerrard right there in front of me in his last season in the UK and we gave them a really good fight on the night.

And there was a lot of passion shown and it made a lot of money for the club. That match will stay long in my memory.

Is Neal Ardley the right man for next season? I think we have seen overall improvement.

I think he is getting his feet under the desk and I think he is getting a pattern of play in the game.

I don’t think there is anyone who could come in here and do a better job.

I don’t see why we should get rid of him because let’s face it, this is our best ever finish for the season in League Two.

Kelvin Callow, 69, Luton

Your verdict on the season: Good, because two years ago we were almost relegated and now we are sort of mid-table, and that gives us somewhere to go from.

We could be higher up the table having dropped points recently, but I’m sure all the other teams around about there would probably say the same. The table doesn’t lie over the season.

Surrey Comet:

Kelvin Callow

What's your season highlight? The highlight for my wife and I would be the 1-0 win at Kenilworth Road because we live in Luton.

We don’t make it to many games here at AFC Wimbledon so that match was great to watch.

Wimbledon played well and defended exceptionally well when they were under the cosh for the last half an hour.

Is Neal Ardley the right man for next season? I think so yes. He (Ardley) is very young so he’s learning things himself, but that is part of life.

I definitely think he is the man to take the club forward.
