Walton Casuals boss Mark Hams might be enjoying a  Ryman Division One South fairytale, but he is expecting a Greek tragedy sooner or later.

A Bobby Traynor penalty and goals from Samuel Labinjo and Malik Ouani saw the Stags come from 1-0 down to beat Worthing 3-1 on Saturday.

They followed that with a 2-1 triumph over Burgess Hill Town on Tuesday night – with goals from Ouani and another Traynor penalty – to make it seven straight league wins.

Casuals, who are set to lose  on loan defender Matt Fitzgerald following his recall to Met Police, have clear water between them and their rivals at the top of the table.

But Hams is expecting a blip just round the corner.

“Sometimes I have to rub my eyes when I look at the table,” he said.

“We’re only in the division because we were given a reprieve from relegation.

“It is an entirely new squad. There was a clean sweep of new players in the summer.

“I have not got a clue how we have managed to get us firing so quick, but what I do know is we are where we are because we deserve to be.

“I’ve been in football long enough to know it will end, but we will enjoy it while it lasts.”

Casuals visit Hastings United on Saturday.
