A young entrepeneur is using contacts from across the Pond to give aspiring female athletes the chance to further their careers.
Amy Price, of Reddown Road, Coulsdon, travelled with Chelsea Ladies team captain Kyle Davies to Kansas USA last week to establish links with footballing coaches from across The States.
The 24-year-old has set up a scholarship scheme giving top female footballers in London the chance to progress and get a free university education.
She said: "In the States women's football is completely different. The quality and interest is so much higher. In the UK there are very few opportunities and unless you are playing at the top level the quality of competition falls away very quickly.
Having coached football in the US after school, Miss Price attended colleges in Graceland, Iowa, West Illinois University and Louisiana Tech, before returning to the UK.
She said: "I have the contacts so it is about providing opportunities for top female athletes"
