Flying start gives Tooting the points (From Surrey Comet)

Tooting & Mitcham leapfrogged Ashford Town (Middlesex) into 12th in the Ryman Premier League thanks to a flying start at Imperial Fields tonight.

Tooting raced into a 3-0 lead inside 20 minutes and looked set to rack up a big victory.

Paul Vines gave them a lead after a minute and former Rushden & Diamonds striker Dean McDonald made it two after five minutes.

A rout looked on the cards when Aaron Goode made it three, but then Scott Harris took advantage of a backpass that fell short to pull one back.

Harris was on target again from the spot early in the second half but, as the rain poured down, chances were at either end were scarce after that.
