Sutton United boss Paul Doswell has issued a call to arms for Bank Holiday Monday.

The Gander Green Lane outfit go into this weekend’s double-header with a trip to Truro City on Saturday, followed by Whitehawk’s visit to the Lane on Monday.

United are on a rich vein of form boasting 17 National League South games without defeat, including back-to-back 2-0 wins at Gosport Borough and Wealdstone.

However, all is not well in the treatment room with Ryan Burge, Dan Fitchett and Simon Downer joining Jamie Collins and Craig McAllister on the sidelines.

Doswell has been full of praise for the players keeping the promotion push on track, but now he wants fans to get behind the side.

“I cannot praise my players enough for their professionalism,” he said.

“They have seen so many key players lost to injury, and yet they keep putting in excellent performances.

“But we have a tough weekend ahead, and we need to have a great crowd at Gander Green Lane on Monday to cheer the boys on.

“This is may call to arms – the fans have been fantastic all season, but the boys need their support more than ever, and they fully deserve it.”

While Collins is nearing a return to first team action, the skipper’s role has been filled by Dean Beckwith.

When Beckwith steps down, he will do so with Doswell’s fulsome praise ringing in his ears.

“Dean has really stepped up to the mark, he has been a great leader on the pitch,” Doswell said.

“He is someone who does not get the credit he deserves, and to step into Jamie’s shoes so seamlessly has been a real bonus.”

Sutton United have given supporters an incentive to apply now for next year’s season tickets.

Supporters who apply before April 23 can buy an adult season ticket for £99, with a further reduction to £85 for existing season ticket holders.

Meanwhile season ticket prices have been frozen for concessions (£75), teenagers (£20) and U13s (£10). After April 23, the prices will increase.
