Sutton United striker Leroy Griffiths will be fondly remembered at Gander Green Lane for his role in helping boss Paul Doswell’s men reach the National League South in 2011.

Griffiths, who scored for United in a crunch 1-0 win at Tonbridge Angels five years ago this week, scored 22 goals in 88 appearances at United before winding down his career at Leatherhead.

He notched seven goals in 16 appearances to help inspire United to a run of form that saw them win eight of their final 12 league games en route to lifting the Ryman Premier League title.

Ten years prior to being signed by Doswell, he set up two goals in a 3-1 home win for Hampton & Richmond Borough over Sutton.

His form led to QPR paying £40,000 for his talents and he had two seasons at Loftus Road before going on to play for Farnborough, Margate, Aldershot, Fisher, Grays, Gillingham and Staines Town.
