You won’t find him wearing ermine and lace, but former Carshalton Athletic midfielder Luke Pigden can call himself a Lord – sort of.

The 24-year-old, who joined Ryman Premier rivals Wealdstone last week, has the paperwork to prove his noble bearing – and all the perks that brings.

Lord Luke was granted the title via a birthday present from his girlfriend, but although he can change his passport and driving licence to read “Lord Luke Pigden”, it is something he is holding back on for the time being.

The Lord said: “My girlfriend saw a US television programme about a guy who bought the title of being a Lord, and so I joked that she should get me one for my birthday, and she did.

“I am officially Lord of Wansley Manor on the shores of Lake Windermere in the Lake District, apparently I own some land there now.

“For the time being though, I am not using the title, it seems a bit odd, but maybe one day.”

Pigden made a winning debut for the Stones on Saturday, slotting into midfield in a 3-1 win over Grays Athletic.
