Dons striker George Oakley could be back in action sooner than first expected, but it will not be at Kingstonian.

The 19-year-old limped out of Ks' 1-0 win over Enfield Town last week with a hamstring problem, having switched to the Ryman Premier League promotion chasers on loan.

Ks boss Tommy Williams had feared it would signal a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but Oakley put a brighter spin on things as a face in the crowd during Monday's League Cup win over Farnborough.

"When he pulled up with a hamstring injury I was gutted for the lad," said Ks assistant Graham Harper.

"He popped in and said hello in the dressing room on Monday and it seems his injury is not as bad as we first thought.

"It will keep him out for longer than the one month loan we had agreed, so he will not be back unless we re-sign him.

"A lot can happen in that time, but I'm really pleased for him as we thought it could be a longer term thing."

Ks are still sweating on Jake Kempton's ankle injury ahead of Saturday's FA Trophy trip to Dorchester Town and Lee O'Leary is struggling with a groin problem picked up on Monday.

"Jake's problem just won't seem to go away," he added.

"He probably would have been a first team regular by now if it wasn't for injury.

"He got injured at the start of the season and started scoring when he came back and now he is out again.

"It is frustrating because it takes a player time to find match sharpness, whereas we need them to come back in and be straight up to speed from the off."
