The manager of the Merton football team that won gold at the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games was a proud man after last week’s finals.
Competing at Crystal Palace, Merton won mini football gold on Thursday and basketball bronze on Saturday.
Football manager Tom Gardner said: “Absolutely fantastic, I couldn’t be prouder of the team.
“It’s a fantastic achievement. Every single one of them played their part. Their attitude was fantastic throughout, they scored some fantastic goals. Absolutely superb.
“They’ve been very strong throughout, they won their games fairly. Attacked well, defended well so I’m really pleased.”
Merton finished the Games in 30th spot on 653 points.
