Sutton United face their sixth Skrill South match in 16 days tonight, with boss Paul Doswell admitting that momentum could be lost in the congested schedule.

However, the young names coming through the ranks are proving a comfort to the manager.

Havant & Waterlooville are tonight’s visitors to Gander Green Lane – the site of United’s 1-0 win over Boreham Wood on Tuesday night.

Michael Spillane grabbed the late winner, ending a run of three consecutive draws for Doswell’s men.

The win also saw a debut for youth player Ben King, as well as a first place on the bench for Ben Cheklit.

Doswell said: “Ben [King] came highly recommended from James Bracken [youth coach] and he did well.

“It’s great to see the young players coming through and with the heavy schedule we have faced, they could prove vital.”

He added: “There is a danger we could lose momentum, but it is a tiredness thing, not an ability thing.

“Football matches are strenuous for the players, and it is a well-known fact that it can take up to 72 hours to recover.

“But we’re in the same boat as everyone else.”

Doswell must be doing something right as he was voted the Skrill South manager of the month for March – his third consecutive award.

Doswell said: “The manager of the month award is a massive ‘well done’ to the players and the coaching staff, it is a team effort.

“Micky Stephens and Steve McKimm never get the credit they deserve.”

Doswell is without Jamie Slabber (groin) and Damian Scannell (thigh) for tonight, but Will Spetch should be fit after missing the Boreham Wood win with an ankle injury.

Admission for tonight, and remaining home league games, has been reduced to £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for U16s.
