Wilson-Denis relieved to end goal drought

Ks striker Carl Wilson-Denis was always confident his goal drought would come to an end, but admits his brace at Wealdstone still came as a relief.

The 29-year-old’s first goals since February 6 secured his side a 2-2 draw at their play-off chasing rivals on Saturday to further cement their place in the top five.

And the former Eastleigh frontman insists the five week barren spell had not been playing on his mind as striker partner Bobby Traynor pass the 100 goal mark for the Kingsmeadow club.

“The main thing is to be winning but you always want to be chipping in with your fair share of goals. It was good to get on the scoresheet again and get a draw,” he said.

“I knew it was going to come sooner or later because I’ve been getting the chances, but have just not been able to stick them away.”

But as far as the rest of the season goes, Wilson-Denis is not looking further ahead than Saturday’s visit of AFC Hornchurch.

“All I’m doing is concentrating on winning each game,” he added.

“If we all continue to do that and keep working hard, then we will get to where we want to be.”
