Kingstonian secure long-term Kingsmeadow future

Kingstonian and AFC Wimbledon are pleased to announce they have signed an extended licence for Ks to play at Kingsmeadow securing the club's long-term future at the ground.

The news comes after the Royal Borough of Kingston and AFC Wimbledon agreed a deal over the perimieter land - stretching around two sides of Kingsmeadow Stadium - which will be acquired by the Dons in a new lease.

The controversial strip of land will come under AFC Wimbledon control at no cash cost, while in return Ks' extended licence will also include a substantial rent-free period.

AFC Wimbledon chief executive Erik Samuelson said: "As our fans know, we have been negotiating to acquire the perimeter lease for some time.

"The negotiations for both the perimeter lease and the new licence have been very positive and constructive but, they have nonetheless taken a substantial amount of time.

"However, the deals are now done to the satisfaction of all parties and I am delighted to say that we can now complete work that is essential to comply with ground grading regulations."

Kingstonian joint chairman Malcolm Winwright added: "This extended licence effectively ensures that we have security of tenure for the foreseeable future.

"My thanks to Erik Samuelson of AFC Wimbledon and Scott Herbertson of Kingston Council for their patience and full support in concluding an agreement that benefits all parties."
