Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson hopes the capture of striker Carl Wilson-Denis' signature for next season will see others at Kingsmeadow follow suit.
The 19-goal front man put pen to paper on a new deal for next season this week having made the first move in sorting in securing his future with the club.
Wilson-Denis and striker Bobby Traynor, who bagged 55 goals between them, were the main reason why Ks clinched the Ryman League Division One South with seven points and a game to spare.
And Dowson, who has revealed he would like to strengthen his current squad which could see some leave Kignsmeadow, has admitted securing one-half of the most potent strike force in the division is a major step forward.
“He rang me on Wednesday and said he wanted to get it sorted, so I went round to his house that night and we got the deal done straight away. I’m delighted,” he said.
“I had said I’d sort all the contracts our in the first week of May, but this only shows people are keen to be part of what we are trying to do.
“He is the first and I hope he won’t be the last. He is one of those I wanted most and hopefully more will follow now I have him on board.”
Midfielder Simon Huckle added his name to the list of those commiting to next season when he agreed terms on Friday, while defender Adam Thompson is expected to put his name to a new deal when he returns from holiday later this month.
”I’ll be sorting things out with most of the team next week, but we’ve got Simon tied down now,” added Dowson.
“Adam has given his word that he'll be committing to us for next season when he gets back in a couple of weeks, and that’s good enough for me. Everyone knows how highly I think of him.”
