Ks assistant Graham Harper is hoping solving his side’s problematic home form can still secure a Ryman Premier League play-off spot.

A Charlie Penny double and one from Malachi Hudson bagged a thrilling 3-2 win over promotion rivals Wingate & Finchley on Saturday to put them only a point behind the top five.

Ks have the best away record in the division, but their home form leaves a lot to be desired with only five wins from 16 games this term.

Three of those triumphs have come in their past four appearances at Kingsmeadow and Harper knows building on that will be key to any promotion hopes.

“Our home form has been a problem for many years apparently,” he said mindful of the fact seven of the club’s remaining 12 games are on home soil.

“Our away form has been tremendous and that is keeping us in it.

“We are a million miles off the play-offs at the moment.

“There are 12 games to go for us and other teams have got games in hand.

“But if we can transfer our away form to Kingsmeadow and keep picking up results on the road then we have every chance to get there if we continue to show the work rate and desire we have done recently.”

Central to Harper’s plans could be Welling United loan stars Penny and Hudson.

Kingstonian: Ks hope to extend Penny and Hudson loan deals

Penny, left, took his Ks tally to four goals in five Ryman Premier League appearances with the match winning double on Saturday.

The pair arrived at the club on January 24 – having penned month-long deals – and have helped Ks up to within touching distance of the top five with three wins in five matches.

And Harper, whose side face a tricky trip to Billericay Town this weekend, is hoping boss Tommy Williams can sweet talk the Welling management in to extending their stay.

“They [Penny and Hudson] have done well for us and Charlie was in the right place at the right time to score the winner,” said Harper.

“Tommy is discussing extending their loan spells with the Welling management this week.

“They have made a difference in the past couple of weeks and hopefully they will continue to do that for a while yet.”
