Kingstonian assistant Graham Harper says he and boss Tommy Williams have a fighting chance of taking Ks to the Ryman Premier League play-offs - because the players are prepared to fight for it.

Williams’ men bounced back from Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat at Grays Athletic to return to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Tonbridge Angels on Saturday thanks to a second half Jake Kempton goal.

Harper is fearful of Ks letting their campaign unravel, but he reckons that while the players still believe they can close the eight point gap to the top five there is still hope.

“Sometimes you look at squads and look at performances and wonder whether players are putting it all in for the cause or not,” he said.

“But you look around our squad and it is clear to us they are giving it everything they have got.

“There are a lot of games still to go and if we can keep the belief we have got and keep our work rate up then we can get ourselves in the mix.”

He added: “We don’t want to let the season peter out.

“It is still tight and three or four wins on the bounce can fire us up.”
