Sorry not good enough for Ks boss Dowson

Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson was left fuming after a refereeing horror show cost his side dear on Monday night.

Ks crashed 2-1 at home to in-form Met Police, two days after going top of the Ryman Premier League with a 3-1 triumph at Carshalton Athletic.

The result ultimately hinged on Charlie Collins’ controversial opening goal for the visitors five minutes before half time, that left both Dowson and counterpart Jimmy Cooper  –  who celebrated 10 years in charge of the Blues with a win – baffled.

Ks were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Met Police box and took it quickly only for the referee to blow his whistle again – seemingly for the kick to be retaken – only to allow play to continue.

In the confusion, Collins raced clear to fire his side ahead before the lead was doubled in similar fashion after the break when Blues striker Bradley Hudson-Odoi latched on to a clearance from a Kingstonian corner to fire past Ks keeper Rob Tolfrey.

Ryan Moss pulled a goal back for Ks with 18 minutes to go, but despite laying siege to the Blues goal they could not get back on level terms.

“It is the worst decision I’ve ever seen,” said Dowson.

“I’ve not had an explanation for it, but the ref did say he had a nightmare game and I think he was worse than that.

“But that is no good to me now.  It has cost us.

“It puts a downer on things having gone top, but we’ve got to bounce back.

“We have done that all season, so it shouldn’t be a problem. It was just a disappointing night.”
