AFC Wimbledon appeals for help to clear snow covered pitch
AFC Wimbledon is appealing for help from volunteers to clear their snow covered pitch in a bid to avoid another match postponement this week.
The club are set to play against Port Vale on Thursday evening, a match scheduled to be shown live on Sky Sports.
A spokesman for the club said: "We have this morning had a look at the pitch and although there are currently two or three inches of snow lying on it, most areas underneath the surface are still soft.
"We therefore intend to keep the snow on the pitch until Wednesday.
"However, we then aim to clear the snow on this day and apply covers to the pitch to combat overnight frost."
The club is looking for volunteers to help clear snow from the pitch on Wednesday.
Some tools will be provided but volunteers have been asked to bring wheelbarrows, brushes or shovels if possible.
