Team spirit is one of the most vital elements of what makes any team successful - in sport, in business or in life in general.

The different attitudes displayed by individuals in football teams compared to rugby counterparts in times of adversity can be fascinating.

The Australian rugby union team deal showed immense resolve and desire to overcome Wales in a recent Rugby World Cup encounter when reduced to 13 of their 15 players, and right now AFC Wimbledon could do with some of their Aussie grit and determination.

Even before the clocks go back, the Dons' home record is far less reliable than last season, while their failure to capitalise has let them down on the road too, with still only one away win this calendar year to date.

Long-suffering Dons fans certainly did not expect to sweep all before them in League Two as they had done in non-League.

However, there does seem to be a growing wave of dissatisfaction that Neal Ardley's teams should display more craft, guile and will to win than is currently evident.

Considering the number of games he has been in charge of various guises of AFC Wimbledon players - should Ardley not be able to galvanize his troops to go into games pro-actively and look to force the issue every game.

It is certainly frustrating that against certain teams - Accrington, Morecombe and Oxford spring to mind - the Dons are often submissive and reactive and as a result never look confident that they can win such games.

If this state of mind takes over too often in his latest squad, another winter of discontent may await Ardley.
