AFC Wimbledon skipper Barry Fuller reckons life is settled at the CRRS ahead of Saturday’s curtain-raiser.

And he pointed to Paul Robinson’s debut goal in the 3-1 win over Chelthenham as a measure of just how settled.

Robinson put pen to paper on a deal last week, seeing the experienced Millwall and Portsmouth defender rejoin his old Lions team-mate Neal Ardley.

The Dons’ final signing of the summer opened the scoring on Saturday, and goals from Lyle Taylor and Adebayo Akinfenwa completed the win.

The real business starts this weekend with the visit to the CRRS of Plymouth Argyle (kick-off 3pm).

Fuller said: “Getting his goal after a minute will help settle Paul down and he’s done well.

“He just shows that he’s an experienced player.”

He added: “You can see that all the new guys have all settled in brilliantly.

“You can see that in the way they’ve played, they have all fitted in and are enjoying their football and it’s a good little team spirit we’ve got going in the dressing room.”

Surrey Comet:

This is what we do: The Dons held an open training session on Tuesday for fans to watch their heroes in action. As part of the experience, boss Neal Ardley took time out to explain what the players were doing and why

The Dons have remained unbeaten in six pre-season games, including draws against Premier League new boys Watford and League One Millwall.

“Performance-wise we feel we could do better, but results-wise we’re unbeaten in and you would take that,” added Fuller.

“We want to better where we finished last season, which if we can push towards the top 10 then that’s great, and anything else, if we can get to the play-offs we have done brilliantly.”

Robinson, who made more than 300 appearances for Millwall over a 14-year spell, told Dons Player: “I really think Neal has put an excellent squad together and you can tell that he has worked very hard to get the targets he wanted, and he’s put a very competitive squad together.”

The 33-year-old added: “It’s a tight league, it’s a tough league and firstly we have to make sure we are at it and turn up for every game.

“Then we just need that little bit of quality to win us games and therefore get in the position where you are looking up towards the top end of the table.”
