Kingstonian boss Tommy Williams had planned to be without Hampton & Richmond Borough-bound Harold Odametey come what may this term, but it seems the midfielder’s new club may yet have to do the same.

The 23-year-old switched to the Beveree last week to team up with former Ks boss Alan Dowson, but Williams has revealed the deal is far from set in stone.

Odametey’s energetic displays impressed many in the Ks midfield last term and he has landed a trial with National League Premier side Dagenham & Redbridge.

Cup runs over: Tommy Williams was pleased with his side's run out at Whyteleafe at the weekend

“I always knew Harold was going to leave us and we had made plans for this term on that basis,” he said.

“He told me he wanted to try life higher up the football pyramid at Hampton and he has a trial game at Dagenham coming up.

“I’ve got no problem with him. He has burned no bridges with me and I am happy with the progress we are making.”

Whatever happens Dowson was delighted to get his man for now and was impressed with how he performed in Saturday’s 4-0 Geoff Harvey & Jimmy Hill Memorial Tournament win over Tonbridge Angels at Corinthian Casuals.

“I watched Kingstonian a lot last season and he was the player that impressed me most,” he added.

“He was phenomenal on Saturday and the team was excellent.

“I was delighted with our performance on Saturday, but we were rubbish on Sunday.

Happy days: Alan Dowson, left, is relishing the return to pre-season action

“There was a lot of people on trial who had sent in their CV saying they had been at Chelsea and this, that and the other.

“Well I can tell you now, the only way some of them have been at Chelsea is by buying a ticket to sit and watch from the stands.”
