Skipper Alan Inns has revealed Kingstonian are more likely to concede more goals this season as they go in search of more wins, writes Stuart Amos.

Boss Tommy Williams’ side have exactly the same number of points – 20 – after 12 Ryman Premier League games as they did at the same stage last season.

Crucially, they have scored four more goals and have won more games to be only a point behind fifth placed Canvey Island ahead of tonight’s trip to Grays Athletic.

Ks drew a whopping 13 matches last season and would have secured a play-off place had they turned just three of those stalemates into victories.

“We are more expansive this season and the emphasis has been more on going forward and creativity,” said Inns.

“You are always going to concede more goals when you play like that, but when you look at where the goals have come from this season, they have come from different parts of the pitch.”

Meanwhile, more than 350 people – including former Ks Wayne Finnie, Jon Coke, Julian Sills and Jamie Beer – had signed a petition to Kingston Council urging them to help keep the club in the borough.

No current players, staff members or directors had added their support by Tuesday this week.

Inns says the players are refusing to be distracted by the situation, which will see Ks leave Kingsmeadow in 2017.

“We can’t do anything about,” he added.

“We have to get on with what we’re doing and leave the board to it.”
