The Wimbledon Guardian has been a strong supporter of AFC Wimbledon since the club formed - from our Drop the Dons campaign to covering the club’s fortunes come rain or shine, week in week out, both in the paper and online.
We are proud of their success and as keen as anyone to see them back in this borough, where they belong.
But that support cannot make us blind and deaf us to the legitimate concerns of Merton residents about the Plough Lane stadium proposal.
It is our job, as the borough’s newspaper, as well as giving voice to fans and supporters, to provide a voice to those worried about the current proposals and to ask the club, the developers and any other interested parties searching questions on behalf of our readers.
And then, in addition to reporting the facts, to give all sides a voice within our articles on this important issue which will affect the lives of so many people.
This is what we have done so far and will continue to do, without fear or favour.
We have tried to address any concerns or misconceptions wherever possible, including the surprisingly successful Twitter rumour that we had not run a story about AFC Wimbledon’s new stadium plans on our front page.
All of our coverage over the past year is available below.
