Former Sutton United star Andy Scott returned to Gander Green Lane as boss of Aldershot and immediately predicted big things for Paul Doswell’s side.

After a 1-1 draw, where Jamie Taylor’s first half opener was cancelled out by Tom Derry, Scott praised the hard-working ethic of his hosts.

He said: “It was United’s first team and they are a strong outfit, as they were last year, and I am sure they will be challenging at the top.

“It’s a tough league to get out of, Eastleigh showed that last year as they had to spend a lot of money to get out.

“Paul knows the league now, they’ve been knocking on the door for four or five years, and you’d like to think that sooner or later their time will come.”

Scott added: “It’s always nice to come back here, they look after you, and the work that’s been done on the ground looks great.”
