Teddington skipper James Wade has insisted his men’s feet remain firmly on the ground, despite a blistering start the Middlesex County League Premier Division campaign.

The Bushy park outfit top the table after Saturday’s five wicket win over Eastcote at Bushy Park and are still in the National Club Championship after beating fierce rivals Ealing on Sunday.

Add to that a 20/20 triumph over near neighbours Twickenham last Thursday and Wade, who takes his team to Brondesbury this week, might be forgiven for getting carried away.

But that could not be further from the truth.

“A defeat this weekend and we could easily drop down to third, so we are not getting ahead of ourselves,” he said.

“The boys have worked hard for this and and our collective spirit has seen us through some tight games. But there remains a long way to go.”
