Twickenham CC coach and cricket development manager Martyn Fryer hopes having three women named in the Middlesex squad for the coming season is the tip of the iceberg.
Sunny Pottay, Charlotte Gallagher and Kat Dickens were selected after a two week county trial attended by more than 40 cricketers, including Ashes winner and England international Beth Morgan.
“It is wonderful news for all associated with Twickenham CC, and a reflection of the hard work that Sunny, Charlotte and Kat have put in over the last year,” said Fryer.
“Our aim is to produce more County players among our members and our coaching staff will be working hard to achieve this.”
Morgan added: “The Twickenham girls fitted in really well, and all looked good players. It will be great to have some new blood in the squad.”
The trio’s selection comes on the back of a very successful season for Twickenham Ladies, who won 20 of their 29 games and claimed the Middlesex Super 8’s Cup.
Janet Bitmead, the Ladies XI manager, said: “It is a long time since we had any Middlesex players at the club and is another positive step for Twickenham CC.”
