Former West Indies U19 international Anthony Alleyne scored the hundred that set up Walton Cricket Club’s return to the Surrey Championship Division One on Saturday.

The 22-year-old hit 104 – his second league century of the summer – as Walton posted 233 for seven at Worcester Park before the hosts were held to 209 for nine from their 50 overs to secure a 24-run victory.

The win means skipper Matt Haddow’s men cannot be overhauled by third-placed Chessington with three games to play and they can secure the title at struggling Ashford this weekend.

Chessington skipper Daniel Yarnley (3-27) and fellow spinner Richard Singleton (3-28) helped put their team three wins from promotion with an eight-wicket win over Epsom.

The pair combined with Paul Willis (4-9), who took three wickets in one over, to dismiss the visitors for 163, before Prince Singh (56) and James McNeil (94*) eased their side to victory.

Chessington, third in the table, are four points behind second placed Old Rutlishians – their hosts on the season’s penultimate day – with three games to play.

Weybridge can still catch Premier Division leaders Sunbury after a 20-run win over Guildford at Hanger Hill, while Malden Wanderers still need a win to avoid Division One relegation after a chastening 151-run home defeat to Cranleigh.
