Middlesex director of cricket Angus Fraser has tipped Teddington cricket Dawid Malan to fulfill his international potential, writes Stuart Amos.

The 27-year-old penned a new three-year contract at Lord’s this week keeping him at the club where he started his professional career until 2017.

Malan has played 40 games and scored more than 1,300 runs for Middlesex County League Premier Division champions Teddington since 2007, while at the same time racking up more than 260 games for Middlesex since making his debut in 2008.

“It is great to see a player at your club begin to produce a set of figures that should ensure they will be fondly talked about by members in many years to come.

“Dawid remains one of the more gifted cricketers in county cricket and it has been good to see him score runs in all forms of the game this season.

“He should be in the prime of his career during this contract and is at an age where he has many productive years to come. I believe he still has the chance to push for higher honours.”

Middlesex avoided County Championship Division One relegation on the final day of the season this summer, but Malan is eyeing a change in the club’s fortunes.

“I am confident the club will challenge for silverware over the next few years and aim to play a big part in those successes,” he added.
