AFC Wimbledon boss Terry Brown has fired an extraordinary broadside at midfielder Tom Davis, blaming him for two dropped points at Welling United on Saturday.

Brown was left fuming after two needless fouls from Davis cost Wimbledon victory in Kent, having twice taken the lead through Jon Main and Ben Judge.

The result frustrated the Dons’ attempts to close in on Blue Square South leaders Chelmsford City, who lost at home to Bath City.

Brown raged: “As far as I am concerned, it was a case of two points dropped, and a lot of that rests with Tom Davis.

“I am not happy with Tom in the slightest. He keeps giving away stupid fouls.

“If someone goes by him, he tends to foul them and he keeps giving handballs away.

“He has done this far too much this season, and he has to learn that what he is doing is costing us dearly.

“I have spoken to him about it and I expect an improvement.”

Brown also felt his side were still suffering the effects of their FA Cup exertions, and said this weekend’s FA Trophy tie at Worcester City was an unwelcome distraction.

He said: “The FA Cup had a disruption on the camp and too much emphasis was put on a game that is irrelevant in terms of our ambitions this season.

“To be in front twice away from home is as much as you can ask for, and I am really disappointed we did not close the game out.
