AFC Wimbledon manager Terry Brown has taken a swipe at Tom Davis by warning the midfielder that his attitude has to improve.
Davis committed two needless fouls which led to goals in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Welling United.
And Brown was fuming after a result which frustrated the Dons’ attempts to close in on the Blue Square South league leaders.
Brown said: “As far as I’m concerned it was a case of two points dropped, and a lot of that rests with Tom Davis.
“I am not happy with Tom in the slightest.
“He keeps giving away stupid fouls.
“If someone goes by him he tends to foul them and he keeps giving handballs away.
“He has done this far too much this season, and he has to learn that what he is doing is costing us dearly.
“I have spoken to him about it and I expect an improvement.”
The Dons twice led on Saturday, Jon Main and Ben Judge firing first-half goals, but were pegged back by a determined Welling side.
And Brown felt his side were still suffering the effect of their FA Cup exertions.
He added: “The FA Cup has had a real disruption on the camp and too much emphasis was put on a game which is pretty irrelevant in terms of our ambitions this season.
“To be in front twice away from home is as much as you can ask for, and I am very disappointed we did not close the game out.
“We have picked up precious few points in the league over the last month, and it is beginning to have an effect.”
The Dons face more cup action this weekend when they travel to Worcester for an FA Trophy clash.
And the AFC boss is less than ecstatic over the challenge.
Brown added: “To be honest this game is a pain in the butt.
“We are falling behind in league games and that is what we need to be concentrating on.
“Having said that we had a decent run in the Trophy last year, but it definitely had an adverse effect on our league form.
“It is our job to make sure this does not happen this time round.”
