Kingston AC & Polytechnic Harriers made good use of home advantage at the Surrey Athletics Championships at Kingsmeadow over the weekend.

The clubs senior and U20s men and women claimed 10 gold medals with women’s captain Pippa Wingate leading the way in adding three more to her collection.

The 23-year-old won the discus (38.52 metres), hammer (53.47m) and shot (11.94m) titles – a feat that atoned for last year’s efforts that saw her finish second in the discus when she had a treble at her mercy.

Men’s captain Gareth Cook won the senior men’s hammer (48.22m) and finished second in the discus behind clubmate Chris Dack (43.57m).

Humphrey Waddington (14.15m, triple jump), Matthew Broderick (1.75m, high jump) and Caitlin Dimbleby (U20 women’s pole vault 3.10m) completed the field haul.

There were track golds for Neil Wellard (U20 men’s 3,000m, nine minutes two seconds), and Scott Evans (senior men’s 1,500m, 3:55.15).
