England head coach Stuart Lancaster will get an important early look at World Cup opponents Fiji metres from the venue for his side's opening game of the tournament.

Fiji will face Canada at the home of Harlequins on Sunday September 6, 12 days before England open the 2015 World Cup with their Pool A clash with the Pacific islanders.

it is the first time a men's Test match will be held at the Stoop as Fiji make their first appearance on English soil since 2012.

Both Fiji, ranked 11th in the world, and Canada, ranked 20th, have featured in every Rugby World Cup since the inaugural tournament in 1987.

Fiji head coach John McKee said: "This match is very important in our build up to the Rugby World Cup and the opening match against England.

"It provides a great opportunity for our UK supporters to see the Flying Fijians in action in full Test match mode.

"The Flying Fijians squad will have been together since July 1 and will have a Pacific Nations Cup campaign and re-conditioning camp in Fiji behind them.

"This match will put the final touches on our preparation before entering our World Cup team base.”

Winterbottom added: "It's a reflection on Harlequins as a club and its supporters that such an attractive fixture as this one will be coming to rhe Stoop in September.

"It is a great opportunity for all supporters to get a glimpse of two very exciting teams ahead of the Rugby World Cup.”
