Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea says young scrum half Jordan Burns' departure to Championship side Bedford Blues is for his own good.

The 21-year-old former Epsom College student penned a deal to move to the Midlands this week as Quins returned to pre-season training.

The former sprinter, who represented England at U16 and U18 clubs and schools level, made his debut against Sale Sharks during the 2013 LV= Cup winning campaign and went on to make four further senior appearances.

Known for his electric pace, the former winger starred for the club during the Rosslyn Park Floodlit, Premiership Rugby and World Club Sevens tournaments.

O'Shea said: "This is a great opportunity for Jordan. Because of his X-factor, Jordan finds himself moving between the wing and scrum-half too much.

"This move gives him the chance to commit to scrum-half and make it his own as a fifteens player.

"We look forward to monitoring his progress with Bedford over the coming season and wish him the best of luck.”
