Roscoe D'Sane has admitted that he was lucky not to be given a red card after an altercation with Billericay Town goalkeeper Billy McMahon on Saturday.

AFC Wimbledon's top scorer was involved in spat after taking offence to a challenge by the Billericay goalkeeper during the Dons' 3-2 win.

The two main protagonists were only handed yellow cards.

But with tempers frayed on both sides, Billericay's Darren Blewittt lashed out at D'Sane three minutes later and was handed a straight red to reduce the visitors to 10 men.

But D'Sane has told the Wimbledon Guardian he was fortunate not to see red as well.

The prolific front man said: "Yeah, maybe I was lucky not to receive the red card - but I'm a lucky guy.

"It was just handbags really - I was a little bit frustrated at certain things.

"But it was nothing really and thankfully it worked in our favour in the end."

Despite the unsavoury incident D'Sane was happy with the weekend victory which took the Dons back to the top of the table - though they have since been knocked off by Chelmsford Town, who beat Carshalton Athletic 5-1 on Monday night.

"It was a bit of a scrappy game," added D'Sane.

"We went a goal in front but we have to start killing teams off.

"We went 3-1 up and then we let them get one at the end - it's not the first time that has happened this season.

"It was brilliant to go back top of the table - the only thing that was disappointing was losing that goal at the end.

"Apart from that we were delighted with the three points. We want to keep this run going and stay top of the league for as long as possible."
