More than 30 Hercules Wimbledon runners were in action in the second of this season's 2XU Surrey Cross-Country League meetings in Lloyd Park, Croydon.
The senior men maintained their solid start to the Division One season falling just seven points short of snatching third place on the day.
They were led home by Steven Bayton who finished eighth of the near 200-strong field over five miles in 26 minutes 53 seconds.
Fred Slemeck was not far behind finishing 15th in 27:27, with Liam White 18th in 27:39, Ben Toomer 27th in 28:04, Matt Sharp 32nd in 28:23 and Jonathan Cornish 41st in 28:49.
Phil Glynn (55th, 29:16), Rob Tuer (61st, 29:30), Barnaby Woods (63rd, 29:34 and second U20) and Alexie Calvert-Ansari (74th, 30:16) completed the scoring team of 10 runners.
Hercules sit fourth overall after two meetings.
Best of the club's youngsters was Matt Gibbons who was 13th out of 64 runners in the young athletes 2.5 miles race in 14:50.
Not far behind was Jack Collins who was 15th in 14:51. Daniel Illis was 16th out of 49 runners in the U13s' 2.5 miles race.
