Hercules Wimbledon AC's Ben Toomer raced to a lifetime best time when he won the Chipping Sodbury parkrun in the West Country in 16 minutes 22 seconds.

Toomer made a winning debut in Saturday's Chipping Sodbury event and his time took seven seconds off his previous best.

Meanwhile, over-45 veteran Lisa Thomas won the women's race in the Wimbledon Common parkrun in 20:05 - taking 16th overall out of more than 300 runners.

Best of more than 20 Hercules Wimbledon runners competing on Wimbledon Common was veteran Peter Collins who was third in 18:18, with over-50 veteran Charles Hampden-Smith 12th in 19:52.

Other leading Hercules Wimbledon finishers were Stephen McDuell (18th in 20:33), Felix Allen (19th in 20:31), Dan Bratton (21st in 20:37), Adam Fenton (22nd in 20:38) and Frank Wood (25th in 20:42).

Hercules Wimbledon teenager Cassian Hyde also had a good run in the Bushy Park event where he finished ninth out of more than 980 runners in 16:37, while veteran Stuart Fraser was runner-up at Bishop's Park in Fulham in 17:11.

Andrew Davies was seventh in 18:43, and veteran marathon runners Tom Cheetham and Jeremy Purnell 15th and 18th in 19:27 and 19:39.

Hercules Wimbledon's James Hodgkinson was runner-up in the junior parkrun in Wimbledon Park on Sunday in 7:50, finishing 25 seconds behind the winner. Michael Lammie was fourth out of more than 50 runners in 8:19.

Surrey steeplechase medallist Rob Tuer was the best placed Hercules Wimbledon finisher in the Sward Trophy meeting at Kingsmeadow stadium on Saturday, taking second in the 2,000m steeplechase.

David Kail was also runner-up in the B race. Hamed Agboke was third in the 400m and also helped Hercules Wimbledon to second spot in the 4x400m relay.

Also on the track, Belmiro Costa and Zoe Illis were the top placed Hercules Wimbledon athletes in the South London Athletics Network Meeting at Tooting Bec on Sunday.

Costa was second in the U17 men's 400m with Ilis runner-up in the U20 women's 1,500m.

Hercules Wimbledon open their Soleus Southern Men's League programme on Saturday by hosting a Division One match at Wimbledon Park.

The match kicks off at 1pm with the pole vault and hammer. The first track event, the 400m hurdles is at 2.15pm with the final event, the 4x400m relay, due off at 5pm.

Other teams taking part in the match are Herne Hill, Kent AC, South London Harriers, Victoria Park & Tower Hamlets, Queen's Park Harriers & London AC, Dorking & Mole Valley and Reigate Priory.
