Coach Brett Garrard will be making the most of strength in depth when Surbiton ladies go for the final part of a Women’s Hockey League and cup double.

Victory over South Division One side Hampstead & Westminster on Saturday in the Women’s Cup final would be the icing on a cake that already includes the Premier Division title and a place in next season’s EuroHockey League.

While Surbiton’s international quartet of Sarah Haycroft, Hollie Webb, Giselle Ansley and Georgie Twigg will play, Garrard is also keeping faith with players who got the side to the final.

He said: “Our great season is down to the strength in depth of the squad, and we have a young side that has overcome some very tough teams in reaching the final.

“Those youngsters will get their chance again, and I have every confidence in them.”

He added: “Hampstead have beaten some good teams, so while we’re favourites we’ll approach it in a professional manner.

“We need to maintain the high standards we set in winning the division.”
