Surbiton’s women moved to within a point of securing a WHL Premier Division play-off place on Saturday ahead of this week’s Big Weekend event at Sugden Road.
Returning internationals Giselle Ansley, Rebecca Herbert and Hollie Webb helped their side to a 3-1 win at the University of Birmingham, thanks to goals from Abi Robinson (two) and Sandra Frankland.
The women and men host Canterbury on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Scotland international Alan Forsyth smashed four goals to help fourth-placed Surbiton to an 8-2 triumph over struggling Loughborough Students.
With three games remaining, they are five points clear of fifth-placed Wimbledon, but they will be aware their rivals have a far more comfortable run-in on paper.
