Chelsea and England footballer John Terry was reminded that his club is not top of the Premier League when he visited a charity for disabled youngsters recently.

Terry visited the Queen Elizabeth Foundation’s Independent Living Services (ILS) at Dorincourt, in Oaklawn Road, Leatherhead, to meet the residents and staff and find out more about the service, which is on the doorstep of Chelsea’s Surrey training ground in Cobham.

While he was there Arsenal fan Ben Rycraft had a good-natured dig when he met Terry.

The youngster used his alphabet board to spell out ‘We are top!’, to remind the Chelsea player which team is at the top of the Premier League.

Surrey Comet:

ILS specialises in supporting disabled people with the transition from childhood to adulthood and many of its residents come to it after leaving school or college.

The service’s focus is to help them become as self-sufficient as possible in matters such as money management, shopping, planning a social life, and arranging and directing any support they need.

Julie Tugwell, ILS’ registered services manager, said: "John’s visit was not only a great boost to our residents that have several Chelsea fans amongst their number, but also a real morale boost to our staff here.

"Not everyone here’s a Chelsea fan, but during this visit he certainly made a lot of friends."
