More than 30 runners from Croydon Harriers battled through torrential conditions at the Surrey county cross-country championships at Dorking on Saturday.

Stevie Lawrence (U17 women) and David White (senior men) produced the best individual performances of the championships for Croydon finishing fourth and 10th in their respective races.

Lawrence completed the 5.7km course in 24 minutes 44 seconds to finish just 11 seconds shy of the podium.

It does however better her previous best result in this championship, when she was fifth in 2010 in the U13s competition.

Meanwhile in the senior ranks, White also notched his best outing in these championships on his fourth attempt, achieving a top 10 finish in a field of nearly 250.

He completed the demanding 12km course in 44:46 to finish seven places higher than his 2013 efforts at Lloyd Park.
