Brentford to pay £325k for ex-Walsall striker
Brentford will pay Walsall an initial £325,000 in compensation for Northern Ireland international striker Will Grigg in a deal that could eventually be worth more than £750,000 to the Saddlers.
The 22-year-old signed a three-year contract with the Bees in the summer after his contract expired at Banks's Stadium , but it wasn't until today that a Football League tribunal determined the value of the deal.
The Griffin Park outfit will have to fork out an extra £30,000 for every 20 competitive first team appearances Grigg makes - up to a maximum of 100 - in addition to the initial payment.
The tribunal ruled the Bees need to pay Walsall a further £50,000 if they win promotion to the Championship and £250,000 if boss Uwe Rosler's men reach the Premier League.
There is also a 20 per cent sell on clause in the contract.
Brentford chief executive Mark Devlin said: "We are glad a decision has been reached and Will can now go back to concentrating on his football."
Grigg made his debut on the opening day of the League One season at Port Vale and scored his first goals against Sheffield United a week later.
