Scott at the treble revives Whyteleafe's season (From Surrey Comet)

Five alive! Sevenoaks feel the Whyteleafe force

Paul Scott hit a hat-trick as Whyteleafe ended a run of two consecutive defeats in the Kent Legaue Premier Division with a thumping 5-1 win at Sevenoaks.

The visitors got off to the best possible start, opening the scoring in the first minute when a fine passing move opened up the hosts defence.

Roscoe Dsane released Paul Scott in the box, and he made no mistake, firing the ball into the back of the net.

Three minutes later Leafe went close to a second - a fine long ball from Tommy Smith found Daniel Day on the left wing.

His cross found Scott in the box and his header was tipped over the bar by Andrew Osei.

The resultant corner was taken by Scott, finding the head of Matt Ferdinando, but his effort went beyond the far post.

Scott had another good chance in the seventh minute after poor defending saw him with a chance but his shot went wide, before Day had a goal ruled out for offside.

Two minutes later, Whyteleafe were 2-0 up - Ferdinando's inswinging corner found the unchallenged Scott, who headed home from close range.

Sevenoaks were being totally outplayed but their one moment to cheer in the match came in the 23rd minute when out of nothing, former Leafe favourite Jay Garrick hit a stunning long range shot into the Whyteleafe net to pull a goal back.

However, despite the set-back Leafe continued to dominate. Folkes saw an affort hit the underside of the bar, bounce down on the line and cleared.

Scott then found Day in the box, who found Dsane but his shot was superbly intercepted by Simpson.

Leafe's third came in the 33rd minute from a Scott corner that was headed into his own net by Danny Cooper.

A minute later Leafe had the ball in the net again, Scott picking out Day who shot into the back of the net, but he was ruled offside.

Dsane went close in the 38th minute, heading just over from a Ryan Maxwell free kick.

Scott completed his hat trick in the 40th minute when another poor defensive mistake allowed Dsane to win the ball and take it into the box, putting it across to the unmarked Scott who tapped in from close range.

The second half proved to be a bit of an anti-climax after the entertaining first half.

Louis Clark's long ball in the 47th minute set Dsane free but Osei was quickly off his line to block the shot.-

Five minutes later, Cooper gave the referee no choice but to dismiss him after another very late challenge from behind on Scott. 

Although Leafe were still well in control, the chances were fewer and farther between.

Ferdinando had one good effort in the 63rd minute, his curling shot just inches wide of the target.

Leafe made a number of changes but lacked urgency as the game was effectively all over.

Ollie Thornton, one of the substitutes added some pace to the attack, and he won a penalty when he broke away from the defence but was brought down in the 77th minute.

Maxwell fired the spot kick home with his final touch of the match as he was immediately substituted.

Leafe travel to top of the table Erith Town tonight (Monday).
