Hercules Wimbledon dominated an inter-club cross country match in Richmond Park on Saturday taking both the individual and team honours.

Pat Wright led the field home winning the 3.86-mile race in 21 minutes, 28 seconds, with teenager Cassian Hyde, warming up for his appearance in the English schools cross country championships later this month, taking second placed in 22:35.

Matt Gibbons, another youngster running in the English Schools championships on March 16, also had a good run finishing fourth in 23:45.

At the other end of the age scale, over-45 veteran Stewart Bond was sixth in 24:40, while another teenager Augustin Mallon was ninth in 25:34.

Twins Elliot and Harris Mier, two of the youngest runners in the race 11th and 12th in 26:21 and 26:30. Mark Livingstone was 15th in 26:43 and two other youngsters, Jack Hawkins and Finlay White, were 23rd and 24th in 29:45 and 29:57 respectively.

Hercules Wimbledon's Ruth Clifton is included in Surrey's senior women's team to compete in the in the UK Inter-Counties cross country championships in Birmingham on Saturday.

Emma Headley and Zoe Illis have both been named as reserves for Surrey's U17 women's team while Cassian Hyde has been named as a reserve for the men's U17 team.

Hercules Wimbledon's track and field training sessions take place at Wimbledon Park athletics stadium on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 6.30pm and Sunday mornings at 10.30am. Further details from coaching coordinator Maurice Sharp on 020 8337 8707.
