Double success for Croydon Harrier Chambers
3:12pm Tuesday 5th March 2013 in Sport By Mike Fleet
Croydon Harrier Peter Chambers was a winner on two fronts last week.
Chambers followed his comfortable win in the final Ashby mile series at the Croydon Arena on Thursday with an even more impressive victory on Saturday as he won Harriers' cross-country championship in 34 minutes and 41 seconds. It was also an inter club event and followed the Croydon Mini Marathon trial in Lloyd Park.
Trinity School student Ben Foreman headed a large and enthusiastic field over 4k in the trial, from which the Borough’s teams will be selected for the London Mini Marathon next month.
In the club event, the runner up was Croydon Harrier David White in 36:55 with third and fourth places going to Striders of Croydon's Lee Flanigan in 37:07 and Krystof Klooria in 38:25.
Croydon Harriers won both the 4 and 6 to score events with the Striders the runners up in both. Collingwood AC were fourth and Dulwich Runners seventh with eight teams closing in.
