Croydon Harrier long jumper Elliot Safo finished fifth on his senior international debut at the Elan indoor meeting in Bratislava.
The 18-year-old leapt to 7.31m in the first round of the competition and, although adrift of his best, his lifetime best leap of 7.65m set last summer would have earned him runners-up spot.
Also in indoor action, three Harriers made the trip to Lee Valley to compete in the London Indoor Games.
Sprinters Lee McLaughlin (22.54secs) and Afam Obi-Adewole (22.85secs) impressed finishing sixth and eighth in the 200m respectively in a field of 52 competitors.
The latter was also 14th out of a field of 47 in the 400m, with a lifetime best of 50.92secs. Rhys Edwards-Whittle ran 7.47secs in the 60m.
In the absence of the South of England cross country championships, which were called off earlier in the week due to snow and ice on Hampstead Heath, there were two victories for Croydon athletes on the parkrun circuit.
Peter Chambers won at Lloyd Park in 17 minutes, 50 seconds - 52 seconds clear of his nearest challenger. It was the 17-year-old’s seventh victory in this event.
Harvey White was third in 18:46 and Stevie Lawrence was fifth in the women’s race in 22:27.
The club’s other parkrun winner came from Ian Wright at Black Park in Buckinghamshire, who triumphed in 18:37.
