It's all about points on the board for the Dons boss

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley has targeted 50 points for survival in League Two.

The Dons, currently second from bottom on 26 points, are unbeaten in three games – however, their fellow strugglers have also been enjoying a purple patch.

In the past three games, bottom club Bristol Rovers have picked up six points, Aldershot have a 100 per cent record and Barnet have won six points - only Plymouth, with one win, have struggled.

Ardley’s men go to Accrington Stanley this weekend – although the weather may have a say in proceedings – before hosting league leaders Port Vale on Thursday.

“I am not too worried about the teams around us,” Ardley said.

“If the teams around us are winning then are teams who aren’t winning – whether they are above you and get sucked in or below you and fall away.

“At the end of the day, your targets have to be your targets. We need eight wins to get to 50 points, and that is the target for the season.”

He added: “Let’s focus on the eight wins. That has to be out mindset. On Saturday against Wycombe we were 19 minutes away from making it seven wins that we need, and we should have got it.”
