No sooner had Harlequins trousered their first silverware of the season, than the players were turning their attentions to bigger and better things.

Tries from Darryl Marfo (2), Ollie Lindsay-Hague (2) and Charlie Matthews saw Quins romp to the Aviva A League crown with a 37-12 win over Saracens at the Stoop on Monday night.

It followed Saturday’s seven-try 53-5 triumph over Italian minnows Zebre that has director of rugby Conor O’Shea’s men with one foot in the door of the Heineken Cup quarter-finals and sitting 10 points clear at the top of Pool Three.

New Zealand fly-half-cum-centre Ben Botica scored his side’s third try at the weekend and kicked 12 points for the club’s second string 48 hours later.

But far from celebrating,  the 24-year-old – who has scored points in every competition this term, including tries in the Premiership, Heineken Cup and LV= Cup – revealed the win was just the tip of the iceberg of the club’s ambitions this term.

“You’ve got to keep pushing. I’m loving playing these Monday night games. They have been awesome, especially when you have not been playing in the top teams,” he said.

“I’ve been playing consistently this year, whereas in the past I’ve played well one game and then awful the next.

“But consistency is what it is all about for me and biding my time for an opportunity.

“I’m loving what I’m doing and now the A League is won and out of the way, it is time to go and win the Premiership and the Heineken Cup.”

Lindsay-Hague’s double helped earn him the man of the match award, having cut the Saracens defence to ribbons on a host of occasions to leave boss O’Shea leaping from his seat.

“It couldn’t have gone any better. I got a couple of tries under my belt and made a few breaks,” said the 22-year-old.

“But the pack were on fire and Rory Clegg was firing passes for fun.

“I play the way Quins like to play and I feel great at this club. I’m happy with my performance and I’m glad the coach was happy with what I did.”
